PS4 Pro: Everything We Know So Far

1. There Won't Be Any PS4 Pro Exclusive Games

Any time Sony gives an interview about the Pro and any time they're discussing it publicly, they'll reiterate that the Pro isn't meant to change the PS4 ecosystem - it's meant to fit within it. That means you can play every existing and upcoming PS4 game on the Pro, Slim, or 2013 models, without any problems.

The only difference is that the Pro will render those games in a higher quality - but this won't change the gameplay in any way. Initially, there were fears that the Pro's extra power would give owners of the console an unfair advantage in online multiplayer games, but this notion was quickly quelled. Christian Gyrling, a programmer at Naughty Dog, came out and said that there's "no framerate advantage" for Pro users, which keeps the playing field even.

That means if you buy a Pro, you're making your games look prettier - and not much else. If graphics are important to you, then it's a no-brainer, but if you're happy with your current box then you're not missing out on anything truly revolutionary.

Danny has been with WhatCulture for over ten years, and is currently Doctor Who Editor and WhoCulture Channel Manager, overseeing all of WhatCulture's Whoniverse coverage. In 2022, he took charge of WhoCulture and has grown it into the biggest Doctor Who channel on YouTube, and one of the biggest Doctor Who communities on the web full-stop. He has been writing and video editing since his early teens, and first got a taste for content creation after making his own Doctor Who trailers, off the back of a burning obsession with the Matt Smith era of the show. Like many his age, he first got into Doctor Who with the 2005 revival, but has since gone back and fallen in love with the classic years too. If you need someone to recite every Doctor Who episode in order, or to give you a random factoid about the making of Gridlock, Danny is the person to ask!
