PS5: 10 Iconic PlayStation Franchises Sony Needs To Revive

Fast-paced futuristic racers were all the rage in the later end of the 90's. WipeOut made its debut on the PlayStation, whilst F-Zero X and Extreme-G were melting brains on the N64.

But Sony didn't just have high-speed hovering crafts as its only frenetic racer, oh no. Keeping it grounded (somewhat), Psygnosis dropped two Rollcage games in quick succession.

If, as a kid (or adult, we don't judge), you had one of those RC cars that you could drive into a wall and it'd flip and still be driveable, then that was Rollcage. Except on cocaine, with weaponry.

It was blindingly fast, choc full of excellent tunes and a massive achievement for the console. Sadly, that was it, with Rollcage Stage II being twenty years ago.

Now, this is a slight cheat here, in that former devs have gone on to make spiritual successor Grip in 2018. But gamers are fickle (shut up, we are) and only the brand name will do.

That aside, just imagine Rollcage in 4/8K. It'd be like the end of 2001: A Space Odyssey, when Bowman gets all the colours in his face...
