The change in Sony's attitude is very noticeable. Not only did the company become more arrogant over the last few years, but Sony has started to move away from public figures as well.

Back in 2013, Sony had many public figures, such as Shawn Layden, Adam Boyes, and Shuhei Yoshida.

Only one of those is still working for PlayStation, while the others left. Yoshida remains, albeit in a smaller role, now handling the indie side of PlayStation, while Jim Ryan is now the CEO and President of Sony Interactive Entertainment.

From the look of it, Ryan isn't about to become the new face of the PlayStation brand.

In fact, since the launch of the State of Play video's in 2019, Sony seems to be heading in a direction without public figureheads. One of the reasons Nintendo Direct presentations have been so successful is the right balance between good games, a rapid pace, and charming personalities.

Sony doesn't have a charming personality, which loses them that personal connection to their fans. If the company isn't interested in connecting with its players, why should the player feel enticed to play games on Sony's platform?

The answer is simple: They shouldn't.
