PS5: Predicting Every Launch Video Game
10. Call Of Duty: Black Ops 5
Likelihood: 90%
It goes without saying that a Call of Duty was always going to be there alongside the launch of the PS5. Basic maths means there has to be, as Sony's console drops in the holiday window, and Activision releases a new COD every holiday, and 2020 is no different.
What is different, though, is just what form the next Call of Duty is going to take. The known development cycle would suggest Sledgehammer is up next, but a whole bunch of leaks say that's no longer the case, and 2020's instalment is actually going to be Black Ops 5.
According to insider sources, development on Sledgehammer's game was going poorly and, in order to make sure they didn't miss a year, Activision called in Treyarch to salvage the project and transform it into the next Black Ops, which might drop the numbering system altogether for a clean reboot.
There's been no info addressing whether they have a chance of saving it in the timeframe they have, but here's hoping the first next-gen COD isn't simply a hobbled-together mess.
