Onto major third-party predictions, as following Ubisoft draining the swamp and getting rid of various abhorrent executives, one of those individuals was Serge Hascoet, "Chief Creative Officer" for all their franchises.

Thought it always seemed one-note and uninspiring how this entire generation, all of Ubi's games slowly became the same thing? That was literally - literally - down to how much influence this one guy had.

The link above is to a Bloomberg report detailing how all creative teams had to report to this guy, and even then he'd cancel in-progress projects because he "didn't like fantasy" or wanted them to stick to bankable formulas instead.

Since Hascoet and his associates' firings we've seen a markedly positive shift in Ubisoft creativity. Splinter Cell and Beyond Good & Evil have been given a two season Netflix show and movie respectively, as it seems Serge was the literal gatekeeper of many worthwhile ideas never seeing the light of day.

Going forward, Ubisoft and CEO Yves Guillermot have pledged to overhaul the company's output, directly aiming to address the lack of genre or game mechanic diversity that dogged the last seven years.
