Ranking 2018's Biggest Remaining Video Games By Anticipation

4. Smash Bros. Ultimate

Super Smash Bros Ultimate
Nintendo

A staple part of any Nintendo fan's diet, the new Super Smash Bros. is the company's most ambitious yet.

The "Ultimate" in the title seems to now refer to the game's roster, which at time of writing includes everyone from Sonic and Pac-Man to Castlevania's Simon Belmont, Bayonetta and even the Metroid franchise's Ridley.

A whopping 67 characters are now confirmed, with the series' signature button-mashing/"actually there's quite a bit of depth if you know what you're doing" gameplay being present and correct. The very fact SSB is an eSport means Nintendo have to balance everything perfectly, putting just as much impetus on ring-outs as charge attacks, Assist Trophies as the accuracy of projectiles.

It's an insane undertaking, but considering it's been five years since Smash on Wii U, this is the perfect return.
