With Media Molecule finally kicking off a closed beta for their long-awaited sandbox creation game - and a public beta set to launch on January 8th - it's looking like fans are nearing the end of their excruciating wait for Dreams.

Though the central concept - a "dream-creation" suite where players can make, share and play conceptual levels - is fascinatingly ambitious, there are those who suspect that it could end up another bold game that doesn't live up to the hype.

Still, Media Molecule has a history of delivering on radical ideas - the LittleBigPlanet franchise, for one - and with the numerous media blow-outs the developer has had over the years, the game only looks better and more likely to succeed with each new glimpse.

The response to the closed beta is sadly NDA'd out the wazoo, but come early January, everyone with a PS4 will be able to jump aboard for themselves.

Plus, with PSVR support planned for day one - though sadly not included in the beta - this has the potential to be the reason to own a headset (if you don't have enough of them yet).
