Ranking All Of Metal Gear Solid's Boss Battles From Worst To Best

30. The Sorrow (MGS 3)

Unquestionably one of the weirdest boss fights in the history of the series, The Sorrow sees Naked Snake walking down a river as the Cobra Unit member brings forward apparitions of everyone Snake's killed in the game so far before him. Snake has to dodge these ghosts, while The Sorrow occasionally attacks with a tentacle-like object, but it doesn't matter, because the goal here is to let The Sorrow kill you anyway. If you reach the end, he'll kill you, triggering the game over screen, but here's the trick: you can still open up the menu, and using the revival pill in your inventory will bring you back to life, ending the fight. Because it's on rails and requires so little actual input from the player this one doesn't feel like a boss, but it's undeniably enjoyable and frighteningly eerie. Plus, the dead soldiers paraded before you will show remnants of whatever method you used to kill them in another genius Kojima touch.
