Ranking Every Call Of Duty Campaign From Worst To Best

4. Modern Warfare 2

Although it was met with an undeserved backlash shortly after its release, Modern Warfare 2 was still a worthy follow up to Infinity Ward's generation defining previous title.

And while this was the point where Call of Duty campaigns got absolutely ridiculous (the Red Dawn inspired Russian invasion of the USA was considered a huge jumping the shark moment at the time - something which seems tame in comparison to the set-pieces that would follow it), the single-player campaign successfully continued the blockbuster narrative of CoD 4.

In fact, the fleshing out of Soap, the silent protagonist from the original game, and his relationship with Captain Price and the rest of the task force is what makes the plot work in particular.

Unlike in some of the other Call of Duty sub-franchises, the rag-tag group you followed throughout the Modern Warfare games were genuinely memorable and likeable, and the ridiculous action sequences of this second title didn't detract from the appeal of that core relationship.
