Ranking Every Call Of Duty Campaign From Worst To Best
3. Infinite Warfare
Despite its underwhelming villain (Kit Harrington is no Kevin Spacey, sorry), Infinite Warfare still had the goods in the story department to prop up one of the best Call of Duty campaigns of all time.
After a few games of flirting with a sci-fi setting, Infinity Ward's latest title finally embraced the genre by taking the series to space. And while that could have been the final jumping of the shark for Call of Duty, it surprisingly works.
Likewise the ability to pilot your own ship similarly added a good chunk of variety to the core CoD gameplay, with Infinite Warfare's space-bound dogfights being some of the most exciting set-pieces to come out of the series in years.
The writing here isn't half-bad either. While it starts off a bit slow and familiar, the game quickly ramps up in terms of scale and intensity in the second half. The cast of characters that the game elegantly builds up are all put into genuine danger, and for the first time in ages it feels like the levels in the campaign actually have consequences while you're playing.
If the villains were a bit better and its opening a bit more inspired then Infinite Warfare genuinely could have been a contender for the top stop on this list.
