Ranking EVERY Main Resident Evil From Worst To Best
5. Resident Evil Remake
Remakes and remasters are the norm in today's video game industry, but back in 2002, the idea of injecting new life into an old game was still a novel idea. Not even ten years after it was first released, fans were delighted to have the granddaddy of survival horror return, but there was more to it than just a graphical update.
Gone was the whacky voice acting from the past, controls were totally revamped so the game was more in line to how others played at the time, new areas of the mansion where added with even some things moved, and lore updated to fit in with the greater canon of events. Perhaps the most challenging change was that of the dastardly Crimson Heads, or even a new boss like character, Lisa Trevor.
Yes, that's right, the S.T.A.R.S. operatives were now required to burn the fallen zombies because if left, they would rise again not only with the ability to run, but their damage was significantly increased.
There will always be a special place in the lineage of the Resident Evil franchise for the original, but this remake would go on to bring the first instalment more in line with the rest of the series, proving these games can have a second life if the work is put in.
