Ranking EVERY Main Resident Evil From Worst To Best
6. Resident Evil - CODE: Veronica X
Originally slated to be the third instalment for the Resident Evil game line up, Sony stepped in an ordered a one more exclusive for its Playstation console with the caveat that it had to be a main entry to the franchise. So this meant that Nemesis would ramp up production delaying Code Veronika for a short while. Working in its favour this allowed for an extra year of development and a well-needed departure from Raccoon City and the Spencer Mansion.
The Redfields were after Umbrella, so now Resident Evil was going global, and the shackles from the first three games were beginning to lift - though even the to this day, characters will reference the Raccoon City Incident. The fixed perspective camera would also receive some changes as now it would pan around corners with Claire or Chris rather than the straight cuts. Which lead to more fluid gameplay, especially against fast moving monsters or the dreaded Bandersnatchs, which were designed to attack from far off screen.
Rockford Island had the feel of a more traditional setting, but there was something extremely unnerving about the Antartic Base. With it being abandoned, for the most part, it held some twisted creations below, giving off the feeling that Claire and Chris were stepping into 1982's The Thing.
