Ranking Every Mass Effect Squadmate Ever
7. Jack
Jack will undoubtedly be happy to have finished above her rival Miranda; although some overexcited fan fiction casts them as something decidedly different from rivals. Regardless, Jack is a character who possibly develops the most in the shortest space of time, and can even feel hard done to at missing out on a coveted place in the top 5.
Entering the game as a frenetic ball of rage, Jack slowly uncoils and becomes more trusting as the story progresses. Interactions with her are some of the most nuanced in the entire franchise. She’s a romance option, but it’s possible to sleep with her too ‘early’ and lose her trust, causing her to shut down almost entirely.
Following that in ME3, her role as a mentor for biotic kids makes perfect sense given her torturous past, yet comes as a complete surprise. As a player, you feel pride knowing that you helped her grow into that.
Her costume in her first appearance is a little strange though, to say the least. Is she wearing belts as a bra? Why? But then in ME3 her cyberpunk get up with that seriously cool undercut redeems her and then some.
