Ranking Every Mass Effect Squadmate Ever
3. Garrus
There’s no Shepard without Vakarian, and it’s that inseparable mentality that sees everyone’s favourite Turian pull up in third place. Garrus is a core member of the Normandy’s crew across all three games in the trilogy, and is fully deserving of such a high spot. Devastatingly effective against so many enemies, it’s only the slimmest of margins that keep him from climbing higher.
The Archangel plot split the fanbase, with some liking Garrus going rogue without Shep to give him purpose, and others underwhelmed by the execution. That aside though, Garrus is note perfect across the rest of the three games.
Starting out as a disenfranchised C-Sec operative, the best part of Garrus’ growth is that it happens in tandem with Shepard’s. Some characters we seem to nurture into what they become by ME3 (not least the two squadmates yet to be discussed), but Garrus seems to grow up with us.
That moment on the roof with the sniper rifles in the final game solidified the relationship perfectly. Across the whole trilogy, no one typified brother in arms more than Garrus Vakarian.
