Ranking Every Mass Effect Squadmate Ever

2. Tali

Mass Effect Garrus
Bioware

Much to the chagrin of fervent Talimancers everywhere, the Quarian has to settle for the silver medal here. Her characterisation and development is brilliant, and across the trilogy she has some truly golden moments. Her loyalty mission in ME2 has enough depth that it could have made for an entire game on its own, and drunk DLC Tali is easily the best Tali. Emergency induction port... That’s a straw, Tali.

She can suffer a truly tragic death by suicide if Shepard attempts to save the Geth in ME3, but that hasn’t been counted against her; in fact, this raw emotional moment gives her the edge on Garrus. Knowing that you’ve caused it by your decisions, even if you were trying to do the right thing, is abheartbreaking.

So what stops her from climbing to the top of the podium? They’re splitting hairs, but the top pick went down to the wire. Her face reveal was underwhelming to say the least, ruining one of the most intriguing things about her. Her class is arguably the most difficult to manage in battle too. And finally, she had a very isolated story, while number one’s was more linked to the central narrative.
