Ranking Every Naughty Dog Game From Worst To Best

16. Keef The Thief: A Boy & His Lockpick

Keef The Thief
Naughty Dog

1989 saw the very first game from Naughty Dog (under their new name) - a supremely cool point n' click RPG where the titular Keef was tasked with exploration and combat through a pretty nicely-handled first-person interface. Penned and designed by Naughty Dog founders Andrew Gavin and Jason Rubin (the former of which is still with the company), Keef was surprisingly immersive, having a stellar colour palette, array of memorable characters and a surprisingly witty script.

All these things would later be perfected and championed by LucasArts' stellar Secret of Monkey Island in 1990, but Keef was an altogether deeper beast anyway - there were traps to disarm amidst labyrinthine mazes, spells to craft, enemies to slay and dialogue exchanges to be had with the royals.

It's outdated as hell now and the game's ending text includes your child finding a powered-up guitar and forming a metal band named Axe, but for its time, Keef presented a number of cool, varied gameplay mechanics to get lost in.
