Before they ended up releasing The Last Of Us as their second intellectual property on the Playstation 3, Naughty Dog were seemingly hell-bent on releasing just one series of games per console. Much like how they swapped Crash Bandicoot for Jak And Daxter when they switched from Playstation to Playstation 2, the studio 'abandoned' their man/ottsel platforming duo for their first take on a real-world story on the Playstation 3, Uncharted. Set across thirty chapters (arguably about five to ten too many), Uncharted's mix of climbing, puzzles and shooting, combined with highly likable characters, strong storytelling and just the right amount of comic relief saw it become one of the first great games on Sony's third Playstation console. It can be highly repetitive at times as a result of its linearity, however, and constrained by its setting and frequent one-sided gunfights that task you with taking down armies of henchmen with just a pistol. As was the case with the Crash series, the first Uncharted now feels dated and sluggish as a result of how impressive its sequels were, but not to the extent where it cannot be played and thoroughly enjoyed.
