Ranking The Games & Movies Of Kingdom Hearts: All-in-One Package Worst To Best

7. Kingdom Hearts X: Back Cover

Kingdom Hearts All In One Package
Square Enix

A movie spin-off to that Kingdom Hearts mobile game that tons of people played but nobody remembers, Back Cover tells the story of the events leading right up to the great Keyblade War and in many ways ties directly into Kingdom Hearts III. In terms of the cinematic entries on the All-in-One Package, this one is almost great. Almost.

In Back Cover’s best moments, it’s on par with the better video game CGI anime films like Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children or the Resident Evil movies. It has great animation, good characters, some memorable lines, and a handful of fun action sequences.

The trouble is, somehow even more than those earlier films, it requires not only a dense knowledge of the source material, but a willingness to fill in the gaps on your own after the fact. You see, Back Cover doesn’t really have an ending, it kind of just stops.

It’s the most complete of the cinematic entries in the All-in-One Package, and the one that most feels like an actual movie. It’s just a movie that’s mid-way in a franchise where you haven’t seen the other entries despite technically being a prequel. But that’s Kingdom Hearts for you.
