Red Dead 3: 7 Reasons We Want It More Than GTA VI

4. The Old West Would Look Incredible On Current-Gen

Red Dead Redemption is still a beautiful game, but there's no denying that it's starting to show its age. This isn't helped by the fact that it never got a PC release, which would've opened it up to crispy higher resolutions, graphics enhancement mods, and so on. It's very much a relic of the last console generation, and it leaves us craving a current-gen refresh. GTA V wasn't designed specifically for the current console generation, but thanks to arguably the greatest remastering job in video game history, we've got a spectacularly high-quality rendition of San Andreas to explore. There is no wild-west equivalent to this, and the prospect of Rockstar's first full-on current-gen game being set on the American frontier is a mouth-watering one. The latest GTA's map was about five times bigger than that of Red Dead Redemption too, so if we're looking at a similar-sized map for Red Dead 3, then it'd feel particularly huge because you'd be traversing it on horseback, and there wouldn't be a massive modern urban sprawl taking up a big chunk of it. There'd be enough room on the map for tens of frontier towns, with plenty of glorious American wilderness in between. With current-gen tech, there's no reason why the map shouldn't be bigger than that of GTA V, spanning several states in the American mid-west, from the Mexican border right up to Canada. Sound too ambitious? Just think back to how disbelieving you were when Rockstar said San Andreas for the PS2 would have three cities. These guys can make it happen.
