3. The Old West Is More Interesting Than Any Modern City
Some people may argue that this is a matter of personal taste - horses for courses and all that - but I'd refute them venomously. Rockstar's satires of modern cosmopolitan societies have been done to perfection, and a little bit beyond now, to the point that they just don't feel that fresh any more. So unless GTA VI takes place in the American Deep South, or midwest, or goddam anywhere other than Liberty City, Vice City or Los Santos, then Rockstar needs to give us a change of scene. And there's no better place to do that than the Old West - a time and place brimming with history and conflict. Taking place towards the end of the 'old west' period of gunslingers and outlaws, Red Dead Redemption didn't focus on many of the fascinating events earlier in that era. It'd be great to see RD 3 entry take place in the mid-19th century, rather than start of the 20th century like Redemption. This would set it against the backdrop of events like the plight of the Native Americans, the American-Mexican war, and the California Gold Rush. These events have rarely been explored in video games, and Rockstar have already proved with GTA IV and Redemption that they're capable of tackling darker themes and more mature stories. It's high time they did that again.
