5. Graphics And Animations

This one is kind of a no-brainer, but you really can't overstate the quality of the graphics and animations in Red Dead Redemption 2.

Despite the world being massive, every inch of it is crafted to the tiniest detail. Some rivers run crystal clear blue, while others run red from the nearby cave. Every forest you enter has swaying trees and incredible sun-rays beaming through. Each town feels incredibly unique with their own style and atmosphere.

There were no shortcuts taken in the graphics department and the same can be said for animations. Whether it's the way the carcass on the back of the horse bounces as it gallops, how snow dynamically moves under foot, the way oranges dance around in a basket in the back of a carriage, or the way mud and blood stick to your clothes and face; Red Dead's level of animation is mind-melting.

These aspects are make-or-break for a lot of games, but many developers take shortcuts. The opposite is true in game that was so painstakingly crafted that it makes all others feel lifeless. Any animator who worked on this game will have a piece for their CV that will guarantee them a job for life.
