Red Dead Redemption 2: 10 Reasons It's The Best Game Ever Made

6. Dutch Van Der Linde

Arthur Morgan
Rockstar

Arguably the greatest villain in any Rockstar game, and one of the best in any video game period. Dutch is charming, irritating, sympathetic, and, on some level, totally right. He's the perfect foil because he's not a dastardly, moustache-twirling bad guy, even though he has the 'stache for it.

One of the most note-worthy things Rockstar did with Red Dead Redemption 2 is making you care about the characters. That sounds obvious but RDR2 is a prequel to a game that kills just about every character in it. Rockstar had an uphill battle in regards to making us care about any of Dutch's gang when we know the fate of so many, but it do so within the first few hours.

Best of all Dutch Van der Linde. Any gamer that played the original going into RDR2 saw Dutch as a villain before he ever spoke. However over the course of the 50+ hour story Rockstar Games made you laugh, cry, rage, and pity along every step of the way with Dutch.

He's so much more than a run-of-the-mill bad guy, and his fall from grace is spectacular to be part of.
