14. The Setting Is Confirmed

The original game took place primarily in 1911, so it wasn't exactly a huge leap to assume that RDR2 was set in either the late 1800s or early 1900s.

As it turns out, the trailer plainly explains via title card that the game will transpire mostly in 1899, where the classic myth of the Old West has been largely eroded, with the aggressive, long arm of the law and the onset of "civilised society" as we know it beginning to phase out the age of roguish outlaws.

Clearly Dutch, Morgan and the rest of the gang aren't going to go quietly into the night, and it's certainly not going to end well for most of them (though at least we know Dutch will survive the events of the game).
