Resident Evil 2 Remake: 9 Tiny Details Fans Will Love
3. Beverage Of Choice
A bonafide part of the series it is, but Resident Evil 7's relation to the wider continuity is largely a courtesy more than anything. Given its status as a soft reboot, that's not at all surprising, but if Chris Redfield's last-minute appearance in that game and a cheeky Easter egg in next year's remake are any indication, Capcom very much considers Ethan's nightmare encounter with the Bakers to be part of the family.
An empty bottle of Dulvey Beer, the favourite tipple of Jack Baker as discovered by Ethan when he's 'invited' to dinner, can be seen tipped on its side in RE2 Remake's initial trailer, a simple reference that raises a million and one questions.
Does the presence of that particularly noteworthy brand allude to any sort of connection between the Bakers and Raccoon City? Extremely unlikely, but if the beverage is brewed in the Bakers' home state of Louisiana, then it could propose a link between the original Umbrella and Resident Evil 7's shady Connections.
Chances are, it's simply a cute nod to the series' most recent entry that consolidates its place in the Resident Evil mythos.
