9. Carlos Oliveira
Though Carlos Oliveira is technically employed by Umbrella, he's definitely not one of the bad guys.
During the events of Resident Evil 3 he convinces Jill Valentine to aid his surviving squad members evacuate civilians before he becomes swept up in the larger conspiracy at hand.
At certain points during the game players take control of the Umbrella mercenary. His more powerful weaponry and extra durability makes mowing through standard zombies a breeze. However, he's not as nimble as Jill, which makes the agile Lickers and Hunters a deadly challenge.
Moreover, his charismatic personality and sense of humour makes every second with Carlos a joy, whether we're playing as him or not.
Let's hope Carlos doesn't leave the series. It would be a cold, cruel, Carlos-less world without him.
