Resident Evil HD: 10 Iconic Moments You Need To Revisit

1. The First Zombie

Considering the events that lead to Chris and Jill getting trapped in the Spencer mansion, you would have hoped that the worst of their plight was already behind them and that all they had to deal with now was finding some deranged serial killer with a penchant for eating people. A dusty, disused dining room and a seemingly empty corridor later, and you've come face to face with the deranged man that you're about to arrest. That was fast. Except he's not a man, and he's not going to be put under arrest either. For a cutscene that lasts no longer than a minute, it manages to get its point across instantly. The slow swivel of the zombie's head to face the person responsible for interrupting its latest meal is one that sticks in your mind as you scramble for the safety of an iconic door-styled loading screen. Did you really just see a zombie tucking into one of your dead colleagues? Can it follow you through the door? How are you supposed to kill it with just a knife? Your first instinct is to regroup with your team back in the main hall, but Capcom always anticipated that decision and saw fit to make your comrades go walkabout and leave you high and dry, alone and with only the parting gift of a handgun to help you kill your first zombie (unless you chose to play as Jill, in which case you had the meme-spawning Barry Burton by your side). What over moments in the the first Resident Evil stand out for you? Is there a certain part that you can't wait to revisit? Let us know in the comments below.
