Resident Evil: Ranking Every Boss From Worst To Best

4. Jack Baker

Resident Evil Bosses
Capcom

Appears In: Resident Evil 7: Biohazard / End of Zoe

The poster boss for the new direction of Resident Evil, Jack is the source of many jump scares as he tries to welcome Ethan to the family. Most of what is truly terrifying about Jack is just how real he feels, because unlike other RE bosses, someone like him could potentially be encountered in the real world.

After taking both Mia and Eveline in, the latter slowly but surely started to corrupt the Baker family one at a time, which then was followed with unnatural amounts of mold covering the surrounding area. Eveline wanted the family to expand outside of the Bakers, which meant Jack ended up being the go-to for additional abductions to keep her happy.

Once the Family meal with Ethan, Jack patrols the home relentlessly in search of him, which creates a kind of hide and seek dynamic. Well, that is until he starts crashing through the wall causing the player and any bystander to jump out of their seat.

How To Beat:

Jack is encountered more so than any other boss in RE7, with him chasing Ethan around the house, to a brawl with a car and even a chainsaw duel. If possible, the best course of action is to run, or at least aim for the head.

When facing him in the garage, be sure to grab the keys and jump in the car first or Ethan will soon end up under the wheels.

During the chainsaw duel, the hanging bodies will be a lifesaver. Use the bodies to counter Jack's attack and follow up with a few swings to get the edge.

In true Resident Evil fashion, Jack becomes a giant monster, and of course shooting the giant glowing eyes will end the fight.

Finally, when his older brother Joe faces off against Jack in a good old battle of fisticuffs (with a power gauntlet in hand), timing will be key. Knowing when to stay back, keep low and go in for the power punches will help avoid endless game over screens. He has a pattern that can be mastered.
