Also known as ‘The Chainsaw man’, Dr. Salvador redefined horror for a new generation of fans in Resident Evil 4, and certainly kept veterans of the series on their toes too. Not much is known about the Doctor himself other than the Plaga causing him to become hyper-violent - more so than the standard Ganado. Unlike any other enemy though, Salvador is a recurring one and will continue to pop up at set points within the game.

The design of the Doctor is also just so simple it works exceedingly well - Salvador is just a Big Man with a potato sack covering his face. Accompanied by the trademark chainsaw and his trembling scream, you’ll be sure to keep out of the woods for a long time.

Stumbling into the first village of Resident Evil 4 as the Ganado attack is one of the all time high points of the franchise and the introduction of Salvador is the perfect cherry on top to ensure Leon and the player just barely make it out in one piece. If they weren’t all summoned go off for bingo, then RE4 would have well been over before it began.

How To Beat:

Dr. Salvador is all but impervious to small firearms, as he’ll shrug it off and continue on a beeline for Leon. The only way to stop him dead in his tracks will be to land a successful headshot right in the potato sack. Anything else (especially in the early game) will just be futile.

Also, the very first encounter can be avoided entirely if Leon doesn’t enter a nearby house triggering a cutscene before his last stand.
