Resident Evil: Ranking Every Major Protagonist Worst To Best

4. Claire Redfield

While Leon is remembered as the star of Resident Evil 2, Claire Redfield enjoyed just as much success when it came to winning the hearts of fans. Her campaign in that title wasn't totally different from Leon's, but the inclusion of Sherry Birkin for Claire to protect kind of added a cool Aliens vibe to the whole situation.

From here she wouldn't actually appear in another numbered sequel, but still enjoyed headlining roles in both Code Veronica X and spin-off Resident Evil Revelations 2. Even though she was initially only really defined by her search for brother Chris, Claire did grow into her own over the course of the early titles, perhaps having an even stronger drive to survive than Leon.

While others, like Jill and especially Rebecca, had a pervasive vulnerability to them, Claire quickly adjusted to her hero role. Gunning down zombies with shotguns fit her perfectly, and it made the move into cheesy 90s action movie territory with Code Veronica feel like a cogent next step for the franchise.
