Resident Evil: The Good, The Bad, The Camp

6. Sexual Tension

redd Despite the fact that they are knee deep in zombies, hunters, lickers, dogs, giant spiders and all the nastiness Umbrella Corp can throw at them in Resident Evil 2, Leon still manages to fall in love with Ada. It's a bit silly. Every second word out of Leon's mouth is 'Ada!', 'Ada wait!' or 'Where are you going Ada?'. There is a fantastic piece of campness when Ada falls off the railings and Leon sinks to his knees crying 'ADA!'. He pounds the floor with his hands in despair over his lost love, grabs the G Virus sample and exclaims 'So this is what everyone's been dying for!' and tosses it into the air. As of Resident Evil 6, I am not sure whether the relationship has been consummated or not. Claire and Steve Burnside also fall in love with each other with alarming alacrity in Code Veronica. Unfortunately Steve gets infected with a virus and nearly kills Claire. But despite Steve's homocidal behaviour, she still loves him enough to risk both her and Chris's life to go and search for him at the end of Code Veronica. Even when he is a gigantic ugly monster she tells him to 'hang in there' (is it just me or is Claire always telling people to hang in there?). Eventually she accepts his fate and indulges in some not very heartbroken crying. It was a cringey romance to watch.
