Rome: Total War Sequel Announced by Sega - First Screenshots

A sequel to Rome: Total War, released in 2004 and developed by Creative Assembly, has been announced by Sega. The sequel will be released in 2013, featuring a whole new graphics engine and the biggest real time battles in the series' history. The game will feature the ability to build empires, restore the republic or become a hated tyrant. The sequel seems to promise more accessibility to specifics, Mike Simpson, Game Director said: "Our games have always encompassed a grand vision. But we're now pushing that vision at both ends of the spectrum. "From the immense reach of the sandbox campaign right down to the human-level drama of a single warrior on the battlefield, we're aiming for an unprecedented level of detail and scale." See the second of the two new screenshots here: This is a big statement of intent and it will be interesting to see where Creative Assembly take their sequel to a game that was incredible but repetitive. If they can substantiate the originals massive scope, strategic gameplay and (at the time) quality graphics with stronger stories, political strategy and personality designing this could set the standard for the greatest game of its type; one thats its predecessor has no small claim in being.
