Sega Mega Drive Mini: Ranking The 10 Best Games

3. Road Rash 2

Road Rash, Electronic Arts racer/beat ‘em up was a fantastic original game, and this sequel delivers largely more of the same but with some key improvements.

Racing across 5 different tracks, against 14 other opponents plus a pesky police presence, your aim is to race and fight your way through the opposition in order to finish in the top 3 of each track and move up to the next level where the tracks get longer and the bikes get faster.

You’ll spend your money on police fines and bike repairs (if you’re unlucky), but hopefully on new bikes, which this time round include a selection of nitro boosted bikes. The bikes are largely palette swaps in appearance, but handling is noticeably different, from the beautifully smooth Banzai 650, to the slick Diablo 1000.

Combat ranges from punches and kicks, to clubs and chains if you’re able to steal one from a rival. The animated insults and compliments that pop up after each race give the cast a lot of character, and give you plenty of reason to develop rivalries with other racers and keep you coming back for more to get your own back on them.
