7. Incredible New Characters To Actually Care About
What do a chain-smoking monkey, a photosynthetic old man and a vampire have in common? They're all beloved Metal Gear Solid characters of course! Whilst you can debate in the comments how much you'd like to see a demonic smoking monkey boss make an appearance in Silent Hills, the point to be made is that Kojima doesn't just create off-hand characters with no memorable quirks or aesthetics. Even one of your squad-mates in MGS 4 had his hair shaved into the iconic exclamation mark that's become synonymous alongside the games. It stands to reason that with Kojima Productions and del Toro behind the wheel they'll be looking to not only flesh out Norman Reedus' main character, but also to give us an entire supporting cast that firmly etches out this iteration with its own identity. We're hoping nothing along the lines of the dreaded escort mission rears its ugly head in any future games, but a great way to build on the atmosphere present in the P.T. teaser would be to partner you up with certain characters or NPCs at key points in the game; losing them amongst the darkness and reconvening at key points in the narrative.
