Fire Breath / Frost Breath
Fire: Inhale air, exhale flame, and behold the Thu'um as inferno
. Words: YOL (Fire), TOOR (Inferno), SHUL (Sun) Frost: Your breath is winter, your Thu'um a blizzard. Words: FO (Frost), KRAH (Cold), DIIN (Freeze) I know technically this is two shouts combined, but they are so similar in actual function that I found them to work best together in a sort of yin/yang type of way. Fire Breath obviously gives the player the ability to spit a gobful of fire while Frost Breath applies the same principal but, you guessed it, with frost. Fire Breath does more powerful instant damage, burning for 30 points at the first level word and 50 and 100 incrementally upon learning the next parts of the Thuum. Frost Breath is wholly more insidious, FO alone causing 10 frost damage per second - rising in potency to 14 and 18 respectively with the addition of KRAH and DIIN over 5 seconds.
Uses: There are many situations and places across Skyrim where you might find yourself against a foe that has an elemental weakness. More often than not these weaknesses are either fire or frost. Yet if youve chosen to play as one of the melee classes you may find yourself without an elemental based attack. Even if you have some kind of fire or frost weapon, it can often help to have extra elemental options when going up against powerful enemies with elemental weaknesses. Thats where youll get your use out of these two shouts. Warrior? Up against a Frost Troll with no access to magic? No problem: Fire Breath. Same again with a Flame Atronach? No danger: Frost Breath. Jobs a goodun.
