Skyrim: 10 Vital Improvements They Must Make For Next Game

9. Better Mounted Combat

Skyrim Mounted Combat At first, Skyrim had no mounted combat capacity what-so-ever. You could be riding on a horse through the wilderness only to be invariably attacked by something, and then had to first dismount the horse and un-sheath your weapon to begin combat. By the time that erroneously slow process had been completed, you'd already have taken a fair bit of damage from the assailant(s). Fortunately, a recently released patch provided us with the ability to swing a weapon or fire a bow from horseback, but it was slow, awkward and largely ineffective. Swinging an axe at an assailant on foot pretty much did virtually no damage and it was very difficult to line up a decent connection with the weapon. Archery was more effective but I would usually find that the arrow would skew off in a different direction than intended. I also believe that there should be more enemies on horseback - in fact come to think of it, I don't ever remember encountering an enemy on horseback. That addition to the Elder Scrolls VI could open the possibility for jousting contests for instance, which would be fun.
