Still, things looked faintly promising when the ident of production company Paramount Pictures popped up, with the usual corona of stars instead replaced by a halo of gold rings - the very same Sonic has a predilection for throughout his adventures.

Unfortunately, that was the last we saw of the iconic artefacts - and indeed, anything specifically relating to the established canon of Sonic's world. It felt more like a throwaway gag than an indication that the movie is to serve fans of Sonic the video game character, and not Sonic the knock-off fairground prize.
