6. Story
Blacklist also boasts perhaps the most interesting narrative of any of the Splinter Cell games, and certainly the most current, as well as the one most prepared to engage with contemporary concerns. Following Conviction, the President of the United States, Patricia Caldwell, shuts down Third Echelon due to its corruption, and sets up Fourth Echelon in its wake, an A-Team-esque gang who fly to and from missions in a plane called the Paladin at the behest of the President. Sam Fisher leads the gang, and when a terrorist cell called The Engineers begin attacking United States infrastructure and intelligence - collectively referred to as The Blacklist - Fisher and co. are tasked with taking down The Engineers and stopping their work before the damage becomes irreparable both domestically and abroad. Given how the value and nature of information is an issue debated the world over, especially in light of the WikiLeaks scandal, Ubisoft certainly put a lot of thought into Fisher's latest adventure, while never getting too bogged down in politics and ideas.
