Spyro Reignited: 6 Levels We Can't Wait To See
4. Lost Fleet
Spyro 3 (Year Of The Dragon) really stepped things up in terms of variety. While some fans prefer the classic appeal of the first game or the polished feel of the second, the third threw everything it had in an absolute whirlwind of fun.
More so even than Fireworks Factory, Lost Fleet is a shining example of that variety. The cannon firing minigame, for example, is barrels of fun and offers a change up from glide, charge and flame approach.
Even accessing the level offers something a little bit different. Spyro needs to swim there, and despite the reputation for god awful water levels of the era (cough Zelda’s Water Temple cough), swimming with Spyro was a blast. As the level’s name suggests, it deals with a sunken fleet of old pirate ships, and the nautical theme is leaned on hard.
There’s even a sense of variation and replay-ability here, something Spyro games were often lacking. Certain egg quests (required not only to complete the game 100% but even to progress) were blocked off depending on other tasks. Two of them required Hunter as a quest giver, but to get him, you’d need to find and free him first.
