3. Tie-In Stigma
If theres one thing gamers and the general public has learned, its that movie tie-in games usually suck. This presents a problem for Star Trek, because its being released before the new Star Trek into Darkness move. That's partly because the game itself is a prequel to the new film, bridging the gap between the first movie and where we see the crew in the beginning of into Darkness, and partly to ride on/enhance the wave of publicity that starts during Super Bowl XLVIII. The problem is that most people wont be aware that this game has been in development for years, something that usually produces better tie-in games (like the Batman: Arkham series). For the game to get any positive buzz (and thus more sales), it actually has to be good across the board, from the graphics to the audio (where the actual movie cast is being used, so theres one positive) to the story (which might be the Achilles heel of JJ Abrams films). If it cant measure up, expect to grab copies in the bargain bin within by the time July rolls in.
