Star Wars Battlefront: 11 Reasons It's A Big Disappointment

4. Flying Isn't Much Fun

Much like the Battlefield games, flying vehicles here takes a lot of practice to be worthwhile, and so for most players who won't invest the time to get good, they're much more useful on the ground. Sure, aircraft can be great for helping bring down AT-ATs, but it's not very often that this happens, and more often than not it simply results in a player cluelessly flying around until they accidentally crash into a mountain or decide to go all suicide bomber on the other team. Even in the dedicated Fighter Squadron mode, flying just doesn't feel that great: the sense of speed that's both expected and needed just isn't there. First-person view absolutely improves things, but at considerable expense to your spatial awareness. The fact that you'll most often kill AI fighters rather than other players also makes this mode feel fairly uninvolving. Sure, everyone's going to try the vehicles and get a temporary kick out of them, but the skill required to actually make these vessels an effective part of combat means they're more of a novelty that gets old after a few minutes at a time. The speeders on the other hand? Well, they're just plain awesome...
