Star Wars Battlefront 2 Campaign Hands-On: 10 Things We Learned
4. Surprisingly Sharp Difficulty & Bad Checkpoints
This can easily be upended between now and release, but in the various stealth-encouraged chunks of the campaign, opening up on enemies quickly saw Iden seared to ribbons.
Thing is: It's not such a quick death that the game is telling you, "No, you need to make use of cover" - more you're encouraged to indulge in this escapist fantasy of being an Empire commando, only to get brought down in your prime. Not the best mix.
Indeed, Battlefront could do a much better job of visualising when Versio is on critical health, as if you don't notice when that stat is dropping into the minus twenties, it's a quick trip to the next loading screen with very little idea of where you went wrong.
Thankfully, Battlefront 2 will feature three different difficulties, and while I can't remember the exact wording of all three (I was on the middle), the "Easy" was geared towards "a focus on story", so there must be a way to up Iden's health and gun your way through from start to finish.
Speaking of which, in the build we were given - which again, will most likely be amended - the load times stood out as being that little bit too long to be acceptable. Upwards of a minute was required to even get into the first cutscene, though I have to hope that this will be amended heading into November.
