The shooting in Battlefront 1 was never quite where it needed to be. Equipping players with only a handful of weapons to duke it out over wide-open spaces that left little room for playing tactically, the low recoil and accessibility of the blasters meant that skill wasn’t really a requirement for doing well.
While that was obviously what EA was going for, attempting to appeal to a more casual market, it meant the game lacked the complexity and nuance for hardcore shooter fans to feel like they needed to stick around in the long run.
Fortunately, with Battlefront 2 the developers have attempted to strike a balance between the accessibility of the original and the complexity of Battlefield, finding a sweet spot that feels amazing in motion.
