Based off the dog from The Road Warrior, Dogmeat is one of the most popular dog followers in gaming. In order to recruit him on your quest to save the Vault, the Vault Dweller has to dress up like Mel Gibson or by feeding him some tasty iguana-on-a-stick. Once recruited, he's a permanent member of your party until death, like Ushnar's Skinned Hound. Then again, why would you want him to leave? With such a high movement speed and attack damage, Dogmeat can move across the battlefield and attack several times in a single turn. Furthermore, unlike Ian, he won't shoot you in the back, which is a plus. Although canonically, he's considered to have died in the Mariposa Military Base (where many players lose him as a result of the forcefields there) he does get it on with a bitch at some point, giving birth to a lineage of puppies that would later serve the Lone Wanderer 116 years later on the other side of the continent. For dedication to the player that spans over a century and a continent, Dogmeat earns his spot at number two.
Ken was born in 1994, and before the turn of the century, he was already a gamer for life, starting with Pokémon Blue Version. He has a passion for storytelling, especially in the gaming medium. Growing up on a healthy diet of JRPGs and point and click adventure games, young Kenny grew up playing Nintendo and Sony consoles, before becoming a snobby member of the PC Master Race. Nowadays, he resides in a time warp, refusing to believe the nineties ended as he fills up his Steam library with old point and clicks and cRPGs.
