10 Coolest Canine Companions In Gaming

10. Ushnar's Skinned Hound

An undead dog without a name, this follower from the Shivering Isles expansion to The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion is a skinned hound with undying loyalty. Upon completing a quest for the Ailurophobic Orc Ushnar gro-Shadborgob, he proceeds to give you his "old" dog as a present. A few seconds later, you're greeted with a relentless companion who will follow you to the ends of the earth and beyond, literally. Ushnar's Skinned Hound will follow you across planes of existence in its never-ending quest to protect you from any red dots on your compass. Incredibly, if you fast travel, he doesn't travel with you. His speed is cranked up to the max and he follows you to your destination. That's right; he will run after you across the map. Whether you want him or not, you're stuck with him. There's no dialogue box, meaning he cannot be told to wait. Whether you want him to or not, he's stuck with you until he dies. When he does die however, his twice-killed corpse will persist in the world forever, meaning he can be used as a permanent, non-respawning container. Even in death, he continues to be useful to this master. That's some crazy dedication right there.

Ken was born in 1994, and before the turn of the century, he was already a gamer for life, starting with Pokémon Blue Version. He has a passion for storytelling, especially in the gaming medium. Growing up on a healthy diet of JRPGs and point and click adventure games, young Kenny grew up playing Nintendo and Sony consoles, before becoming a snobby member of the PC Master Race. Nowadays, he resides in a time warp, refusing to believe the nineties ended as he fills up his Steam library with old point and clicks and cRPGs.
