10 Coolest Canine Companions In Gaming

9. Luna

A robotic dog in a digitised city, Luna will aid Red, the protagonist of Transistor, without question. Available as a skill upon defeating the first boss, Luna is eventually named by the Transistor when she is found inside a mysterious backdoor leading to a scenic island retreat. Not unlike K-9 from Fallout 2, Luna is able to move vast distances in a single turn and attack the enemy from behind. Aside from helping directly in combat, Luna can also be added as an upgrade to another skill, adding the chance to most other abilities to prevent enemies from respawning. Outside of combat, the player can frolic on the beach and play with Luna, as it barks and bounces a ball with its master. If that level of adorable isn't worthy of a spot on this, nothing is.

Ken was born in 1994, and before the turn of the century, he was already a gamer for life, starting with Pokémon Blue Version. He has a passion for storytelling, especially in the gaming medium. Growing up on a healthy diet of JRPGs and point and click adventure games, young Kenny grew up playing Nintendo and Sony consoles, before becoming a snobby member of the PC Master Race. Nowadays, he resides in a time warp, refusing to believe the nineties ended as he fills up his Steam library with old point and clicks and cRPGs.
