The Division: 10 Crucial Questions Ubisoft Must Answer

7. Is The Best Experience Routed In Multiplayer?

It comes to something when Ubisoft themselves have to get out in front of the game's reputation, saying in an interview, "The Division is a great single player game, period" - attempting to clash head-on with the general scuttlebutt surrounding its gameplay. Thing is... you shouldn't believe them. Yes, they've noted that the game will 'scale accordingly' depending on the size of your party, but enemy difficulty is but one thing that goes into defining what makes something 'a great single player game'. Will there be cutscenes and narrative on the level of The Last of Us or Red Dead Redemption? Character-building like The Walking Dead games or immersion like Gone Home? Of course not. The general sensibility behind this statement is "We'll tweak the amount of enemies on screen, and make sure the bosses don't take a lifetime to take down if you're playing by yourself." Nothing more.
