The Game Awards 2018: 7 Ups & 6 Downs
5. Red Dead Redemption 2 & God Of War Split Major Awards
Early on in the show it seemed like recency bias was destined to win out with voters, as Red Dead Redemption 2 picked up the awards for Best Narrative, Best Score/Music, Best Audio Design and Best Performance.
But then the tide turned.
Despite most expecting RDR2 to carry out a boring clean sweep, the two biggest awards of the night - Best Game Direction and Game of the Year - instead went to God of War.
It's always fun to share the wealth, and regardless of which game you personally prefer, it was neat to see both games - indisputably two of the year's best - come away with the lion's share of the major awards.
