The Last Of Us Part 2: 10 Major Details You Missed In The New Trailer
7. New Ways To Explore Including Horses And Boats
The Last of Us was the first Naughty Dog game to really embrace the idea of wide-linear levels. Unlike previous titles, occasionally you were thrown into areas you could freely explore at your own leisure before continuing the story, discovering unique combat encounters, environmental storytelling and resources to aid you in your journey.
Since then, we've seen games like God of War and Uncharted 4 push this even further, and it looks as though Part 2 will follow suite. The locations we saw looked larger than ever before, with Ellie spending much of her time on horseback.
It's the inclusion of both boats and these horses that suggest an even bigger emphasis on freeform exploration though. You spent the majority of the last game on foot, and if you need vehicles to get around the sequel's world, it suggests a markedly bigger play space.
