The Last Of Us Part 2: Ranking Every Character From Worst To Best
7. Yara
Initially, Yara isn't the most compelling supporting character in the game. Debuting in the worst combat section, having to run with her through bright orange forests and fight infected amongst the nauseating lighting isn't exactly an ideal introduction, and it's easy to view her and Lev as roadblocks on the path to finding Owen. However, the development she gets after losing her arm is incredible, with her love for her brother being such a beautiful aspect of the second half.
We are not explicitly aware of Yara's fate during Abby's arc like we are with most of her friends, however it feels destined that she's not long for this earth. Her entire character is devoted to loving her brother, even if she doesn't fully understand him yet, and her unconditional devotion is extremely powerful in a game so much about the extinction of bonds. Yara gradually gains the player's respect and consideration, through basic scenes like her in the aquarium looking for a toy for Lev, or her continuing to fight despite her new found limitations.
Her sacrifice is one of the game's hardest moments, cementing her as a hero as she dies for her brother and manages to take out Isaac in the process. Lev's evident pain in the following action sequence shows how special their relationship was, and Victoria Grace deserves acclaim for her excellent performance.
