The Legend Of Bum-Bo: 10 Things You Need To Know

5. A More Childish Tone

THE LEGEND OF bum-bo
Edmund McMillen

As you can likely tell from the promotional material, The Legend of Bum-Bo is not a game that takes itself too seriously. The tagline, "Bumbo want coin" pretty much sums up exactly the attitude that the game achieves.

Although it's a prequel, it's a far cry from the sombre tale of a scared child running from his crazed mother. Instead, we have a tale of a boy fighting monsters on a quest for his lost coin, not exactly a tragedy despite what Bumbo himself may assume.

This tonal switch is in no way a bad thing, and for the most part, Bumbo's brief moments in the spotlight are hilarious. Understandably, some fans of Isaac's darker themes may be a little disappointed by this, though there is plenty of reason for them to hope...
